The Soccer Travel League program is designed to provide area youth with the opportunity to develop individual and team soccer skills to their fullest potential through expert soccer skills training and team play at an appropriate level of competitiveness.  We want to make soccer fun and enjoyable so that the children will want to continue playing the game throughout their teenage years and into adulthood.

Our ultimate measure of success will be that CYSA Travel League children continue to play soccer because they love the game, not the win/loss record of our teams.

The Travel League Soccer Program is open to children from age eight (8) as of July 31st through players eighteen (18) years of age. This program provides a moderately to highly competitive environment for children who possess above average skills, who want to travel, who want to develop and learn advanced soccer skills and tactics while learning the principles of good sportsmanship.

Our Travel League program is designed for those players who have a greater interest and commitment in advancing their skills and who desire to compete outside of the Chambersburg area. Players may also compete in various local, state, and regional tournaments.

The CPYSL conducts both a fall and a spring season.  The CYSA enters a full complement of teams in the CPYSL for the fall season.  Because fewer children are available to play in the spring, fewer teams are entered in the CPYSL for the spring soccer season.  The decision of whether or not to enter a particular team in the CPYSL for the spring season is generally made by the team's coach, players and parents.

Once per year, players must try out for travel league teams according to their age.  Tryouts for the fall/spring soccer seasons are conducted in late April or early May, prior to the start of the fall season.  The seasonal year begins on August 1st and ends on July 31^st of the following year.

Players will be evaluated and assigned to teams by a tryout committee consisting of Travel League team coaches and/or additional experienced soccer evaluators.  Teams may be offered in the following age groups:  Under 09's (U-09), Under 10's (U-10), Under 11's (U-11), Under 12's (U-12), Under 13's (U-13), Under 14's (U-14), Under 15's (U-15), Under 16's (U-16), Under 17’s (U-17), Under 18’s (U-18), and Under 19's (U-19). If the number, ages and skill level of players trying out does not warrant single aged teams, the committee may combine two age groups.

Age group eligibility is determined by the age of the player on the 31st of July.  Players not assigned to a travel league team are encouraged to participate in the Chambersburg Recreation Department league & AYSO program during the upcoming season and to try out for the Travel League team again the following year.
